A short note about the ABBA project and Mike Jennings

يقوم مايكل جننز منذ وقت طويل على مشروع "أطلس الطيور المتكاثرة في الجزيرة العربية" المعروف اختصارا ABBA وقد قام بعمل قاعدة بيانات عن الطيور المتكاثرة في جميع مناطق الجزيرة العربية، ويعمل السيد جننز أيضا على توثيق كل ما حصل عليه من تسجيلات تاريخية. ويمكن مساعدة هذا المشروع بإرسال المشاهدات الشخصية أو التسجيلات المفصلة للطيور المفرخة في أي منطقة محددة. والمطلوب أن يتضمن التسجيل تحديد الموقع بدقة قدر الإمكان، عن طريق الإحداثيات أو أقرب مدينة أو قرية أو معلم معروف. كذلك من المهم أن يتضمن التقرير تاريخ المشاهدة وأي نشاط يدل على التفريخ مثل وجود عش أو فراخ وطيور يافعة وكذلك أي نشاط يقوم به الأبوين مثل جمع الطعام للصغار أو التغريد وعروض المغازلة. حيث يمكن ارسال المشاهدات والاوصاف التفصيلة أو الصور وغيرها من المعلومات إلى البريد الإلكتروني arabianbirds@gmail.com . وفي حال كنت مهتما بارسال تسجيلاتك بشكل منتظم فيمكنك أيضا التواصل مع مايك جننز ليقوم باعطاءك تعليمات اضافية عن المشاركات. كما يسعد مايك أن يشارك قاعدة البيانات الخاصة به مع المهتمين بالطيور، ليكون لدى الراصد أو الباحث قائمة بالطيور المفرخة في منطقة معينة من الجزيرة العربية، أو فيما يخص التسجيلات الخاصة بنوع معين حيث يمكنه ارسال قاعدة البيانات مع الخرائط اللازمة.  

Atlas of the Breeding Birds of Arabia (ABBA)  Mike Jennings has been collecting information on the distribution of breeding birds for all states within the Arabian Peninsula for many years and his ABBA database project also includes all the historical records he can trace.  You can help the ABBA project by sending him individual records of breeding birds or more detailed reports of the birds breeding in a specific area.  For each record Mike needs to know the location as precisely as possible, e.g. coordinates but if you do not have this the nearest town or landmark.  Secondly the date of the observation is very important and thirdly any activity of the breeding bird, such as a nest with eggs or young, collecting food for young, song or courtship behavior. He will be pleased to receive photos of birds with these details at arabianbirds@gmail.com.  If you want to contribute records systematically then contact Mike and he will send you more detailed instruction for contributors.  Mike is also very happy to share his database with those interested in birds, so if you would like a listing of the breeding birds of your locality in Arabia or records of a particular species then he will be happy to send you datasets and maps.
